The Exchange Server 2007 Model Wizard guides you though the initial phase of creating a capacity model for Exchange Server 2007. You start the Exchange Model Wizard from the Welcome page.
If you need to view detailed descriptions of options on a page, press F1 while you are viewing the page in Capacity Planner.
To use the Exchange Model Wizard

On the Welcome page, ensure that Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 is shown under Capacity Models.

Click Create a new Capacity Model.

On the Mailbox Sites - Exchange page, click Add Mailbox Site to add a Mailbox site.
- Under General Settings, enter a name for the Mailbox
site and specify the number of local clients that belong to the
site, whether to create a SAN, whether ActiveSync devices are in
use, and whether the Mailbox site is in a standby datacenter.
- Under Client Profiles you can specify the number of
clients by number or percentage.

Click Customize Usage Profiles to customize usage profiles for servers and clients, and then click Next.

On the Client-Only Sites - Exchange page, click Add Client-Only Site Profile to add client-only site sites.
- Under General Settings, enter a name for the Mailbox

Click Customize Usage Profiles to customize usage profiles for servers and clients and then click Next.

On the Networks - Exchange page, specify the typical type of network that connect Mailbox sites to each other and the typical type of network that connects Mailbox sites to client-only sites, and then click Next.

On the Hardware - Exchange page, select the type of computer hardware available at all sites and type of disk configuration you desire, and then click Next.

On the page Application - Exchange, specify the Mailbox server type, whether to use standby datacenters, and redundancy choices.

Review information on the Model Summary - Exchange page. If necessary, you can click Back so that you can make any necessary changes.

Click Finish to proceed to the Model Editor.
