Create a Rule Group

Rule groups contain rules for events, alerts, and performance. Use rule groups to categorize rules for the various system applications that you want to monitor, such as Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) agents.

You can also create child groups, which are rule groups that are contained within a rule group.

Create rule groups by using the MOM Administrator console.

To create a rule group

  1. In the Navigation pane, click Management Packs.
  2. In the Detail pane, click Rule Groups.
  3. In the Navigation pane, right-click Rule Groups, and then click Create Rule Groupto open the Rule Group Propertiesdialog box.
  4. Follow the instructions in the dialog box to complete the creation of the rule group. For more information about the options in a dialog box, click Help.
