Assigning Specific Action Servers to Run Policies
Opalis Integration Server enables you to assign specific Action Servers to run specific Policies. For example, if a Policy requires a specialized resource in order to run, such as Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0, you can install .NET Framework 2.0 on some of your Action Server machines, and then designate those machines to run the Policy that needs that resource. When the Policy runs, it will only deploy and failover to Action Servers that you have assigned to it.
If you do not assign specific Action Servers to run a Policy, the Policy will use the default Primary and Standby order. See Action Server Failover for more information.
Tip: Assign a Policy to a single Action Server if you do not want it to failover to another Action Server.
To assign a Policy to specific Action Servers:
1.
In the Connections pane, select the Policy that you want to assign to a specific Action Server. The Policy appears in the workspace.
2.
Right-click the Policy tab. The pop-up menu appears.
3.
Select Properties. The Policy Properties dialog appears.
4.
Click the Action Servers tab.
5.
Check the Override default Action Server roles check box.
6.
Click the Add button. The Select an Action Server dialog appears.
7.
Select the Action Server that you want to assign to the Policy and click OK. The Policy Properties dialog appears, displaying the Action Server in the list. This Action Server becomes the primary Action Server for this Policy. The Role column displays the word Primary.
8.
Repeat steps 6 and 7 for each additional Action Server that you want to assign to the Policy as standby machines. The first additional Action Server that you add becomes the first standby machine. The second additional Action Server that you add becomes the second standby machine, and so on.
9.
To change the order in which standby Action Server machines are deployed, click Up or Down to raise or lower the machine in the standby rank.
10.
To remove an Action Server from the list, click Remove. That Action Server is no longer assigned to run this Policy.
11.
Click Finish.
