A Management Pack module consists of a processing rule group
that is associated with a computer group. Processing rule groups
are made up of individual processing rules and other processing
rule groups. Computer groups define which computers will be
monitored.
The Management Pack module defines which computers are
monitored, what they are monitored for, and what response, if any,
is initiated when a processing rule match occurs.
Define a computer group
Does the computer group already exist?
If yes, select the computer group and proceed to Define a
processing rule group in this topic.
If no, is the computer group based on a registry-based
attribute?
If no, follow the steps in Creating a Computer Group.
Select No when prompted to deploy a group of processing
rules to computers that match the new computer group.
If no, follow the steps in Creating a
Processing Rule Group. Select Yes when prompted to
deploy the processing rules in the new processing rule group to a
group of computers.
In the Processing Rule Group properties dialog, click
Add, and then select the computer group you want to
associate with this processing rule group. Click OK.
Click OK to apply change and close the Processing
Rule Group properties dialog.
Note
When you create a new computer or processing rule group, or
associate a processing rule group with a computer group, it is not
immediately reflected in MOM. The default time for new rules to be
deployed is 2:05 A.M. However you can force instant deployment of a
new computer group, new processing rule group or new association by
following steps 7 and 8 in Creating a Computer
Group.
