If you are installing a protection agent on a computer that is not in an Active Directory domain, you must manually install the protection agent. This topic describes how to install a protection agent on a computer in a workgroup or untrusted domain.

To install an agent on a computer in a workgroup or untrusted domain

  1. In DPM Administrator Console, on the navigation bar, click Management, and then click the Agents tab.

  2. In the Actions pane, click Install.

The Protection Agent Installation Wizard starts.

  3. On the Select Agent Deployment Method page, select Attach agents, select Computer in workgroup or untrusted domain, and then click Next.

  4. On the Select Computers page, in the Computer name box, type the name of the computer you want to add to the DPM server. Enter the user credentials for the computer, click Add, and then click Next.

    Note
You can add one or more computers up to a 50 computer maximum.

DPM will add the workgroup computer or the computer in the untrusted domain to the DPM Server. After the computer is added to the DPM computer, you must manually install the protection agent. For information about installing the protection agent manually, see Installing Protection Agents Manually.
  5. On the Summary page, click Attach.
