You must properly configure Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2 to support a System Center Data Protection Manager (DPM) 2010 installation. Required Components for Windows Server 2008

The following are the required Windows Server 2008 features and components:

  • Windows PowerShell 2.0

    Note
    Windows PowerShell 1.0 is included in Windows Server 2008. If you install DPM on Windows Server 2008, the Setup Wizard automatically installs Windows PowerShell 2.0.Windows PowerShell 2.0 is included in Windows Server 2008 R2.
  • Single Instance Storage (SIS)

    Note
    The Setup Wizard automatically installs SIS.

To install SIS

  1. From an administrator command prompt, type start /wait ocsetup.exe SIS-Limited /quiet /norestart.

    Important
    The service name is case-sensitive so you must type SIS-Limited. The installation fails if you type sis-limited or SIS-limited.
  2. After the installation is complete, you must restart the computer.
