The Configuration Manager 2007 Management Pack provides a diagram for the Configuration Manager 2007 site hierarchy. Site servers and site systems are displayed showing their relationships to each other with context-sensitive information. This topology diagram includes logical data, such as hierarchies and sites, and physical data, such as site servers and site systems. Since Configuration Manager 2007 hierarchies can be large the diagrams have the following requirements:
- The Operations Manager 2007 Agent must
be installed locally on all Central Site Servers and their SMS
Providers.
- Install the Operations Manager 2007
Agent locally on all Primary Site Servers in a top-down manner,
depending on how many levels of the Configuration Manager site
hierarchy are desired.
- Proxying must be enabled for each installed
Operations Manager 2007 Agent.
- Enter the fully qualified domain name (FQDN)
using the Configuration Manager 2007 administrator console for
each server to be discovered by Operations Manager.
- Configuration Manager Servers must have been
discovered and appear in the All Systems collection in the
Configuration Manager Administrator Console.
- ConfigMgr Server instances must be discovered
by service discovery.
Discovery is performed by the following two scripts.
- ConfigMgr 2007 Service Discovery -
Server
- ConfigMgr 2007 Site Hierarchy
Discovery
Service Discovery will discover instances of the ConfigMgr Server class. Site Hierarchy Discovery will discover the following:
- Sites - central, primary, and secondary sites
on a per-site basis from the provider of a primary site
- Site-to-site relationship
- Servers within a site
- Site-Server-to-site-system relationships
The discovery data can be seen partially in the diagram and more fully through object properties. In addition, diagrams can be saved in .jpeg, .bmp, or .png file formats.
