Device Manager 2011 enables configuration of devices optimized for management with Device Manager 2011. The following list shows how you can configure devices by using Configuration Manager and Device Manager 2011:

• Use the Configuration Manager console to create configuration items and configuration packages.
  
• Use the Software Distribution feature in Configuration Manager to distribute configuration content to collections of devices.
  
• Use advertisements to send notifications to the collection of devices specifying that a program, software update deployment, or task sequence is available.
