Requirements
Active Directory® Domain Services domain structure
configured
DNS infrastructure configured
Software update management system in use
Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) requirements:
Administrator Console and server component installed
Windows PowerShell™ execution policy set to
remotesigned
Library configured
Maintenance host groups created
Maintenance hosts configured to use a common virtual
network
Virtual machines configured
DHCP enabled
Virtual Machine Additions or Hyper-V™ Integration Services
installed and registering heartbeats
Agent for software update management system installed
Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) requirements:
Group Policy for intranet update service location defined
Computer groups for updates defined
Configuration Manager: virtual machines accounted for in the
Configuration Manager inventory database
Updates configured:
WSUS: Update metadata downloaded, updates approved
Configuration Manager: Updates downloaded and packaged,
collections created for virtual machines, and deployment
created
PsExec Utilities (PsExec.exe and pdh.dll files) downloaded and
placed in the %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Offline Virtual Machine
Servicing Tool\Bin folder
Recommendations
Fibre Channel storage area network (SAN), 2 GB or faster
