Use the following procedures to create or edit a virtual hard
disk group.
Important A virtual hard disk group can
only contain virtual hard disks from one VMM library
server.
To create a virtual hard disk group
In the Actions pane, under Update Virtual Hard Disks
in Library, click New Group.
Note If you
cannot view the Actions pane, on the main toolbar, click
Actions to display it.
On the Create a Virtual Hard Disk Group page of the New
Virtual Hard Disk Group Wizard, type a name and a description for
the group. You can use the description to help identify the group,
for example if the group name is standardized and you need
additional "friendly" information to easily identify the
group.
If your Virtual Machine Manager (VMM) system has more than one
library servers, expand the VMM library server drop-down
list, and then click the name of the VMM library server that holds
the VHDs with which you want to work.
In the Available virtual hard disks list, select the
VHDs to place in this group, click the arrow button to move them
into the Selected virtual hard disks list (click the
double-arrow button to move all of the VHDs into the list).
Click Finish to complete the wizard.
To edit an
existing virtual hard disk group
In the Groups pane of the tool console, expand the
Virtual Machine Servicing Tool Groups tree node, and then
click the Virtual Hard Disk Groups node to display the
current list of virtual hard disk groups in the results pane of the
tool console.
In the list of virtual hard disk groups, select the group you
want to edit, and then in the Actions pane, under Update
Virtual Hard Disks in Library, click Edit Group.
On the Edit Group page, you can change the description
of the virtual hard disk group, and you can add or remove virtual
hard disks. Remember that all of the virtual hard disks in the
group must be in the same VMM library server.
