Compatibility mode in System Center Updates Publisher 3.0 provides the ability to export software updates to a catalog that is compatible with both Updates Publisher and the Custom Updates Publishing Tool that was released with Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 R2.

Use the following procedure to enable compatibility mode.
To enable compatibility mode

Right-click any tree node item, and then click Settings in the Updates Publisher console to open the Settings dialog box.

Click the Advanced tab, and then select Enable compatibility mode with previous update format.
