Use the Settings tab of the Configuration Manager 2007 configuration item properties dialog box to view, add, edit, and delete settings and their validation criteria that you want to include in this configuration item. Examples of configuration item settings are those obtained from Active Directory Domain Services, the registry, and scripts.
This tab contains the following elements:
- Look for setting
- Filters the settings that are displayed on the Settings tab based on the keyword entered in the text box.
- Find Now
- Initiates the filter and then displays the results in the Search Results node of the settings tree.
- Settings Tree
- Displays a tree view showing the following information:
- All settings: Displays all settings
created for this configuration item.
- Parent settings: Displays the parent
configuration item settings if the configuration item is a child of
another configuration item.
- Settings Groups: If specified, a list of
settings groups is shown. Click any settings group to see the
settings that are contained in that group. You can click New
and then Settings Group to create a new settings group.
- Search Results: Displays the results
of the most recent search specified in the Look for setting
text box.
- All settings: Displays all settings
created for this configuration item.
- Settings list
- Displays a list of any configuration item settings for the
selected settings group, search results or all settings with the
following properties:
- Name
- Data Type
- Validation
- Setting
- Location
- Name
- New
- Defines a new setting for this configuration item. You will be
prompted to select one of the following data sources for the
setting:
- Active Directory Domain Services
- IIS Metabase
- Registry
- Script
- SQL Query
- WQL Query
- XML
- Settings Group
- Active Directory Domain Services
- Edit
- Edits a selected setting for this configuration item.
- Validation
- Specifies the validation criteria for a selected setting, such
as the required value or range.
Note Where more than one validation criteria have been specified, this option is not available. In this case, click Edit to change the properties of the selected setting.
- Remove
- Removes a selected setting for this configuration item.
Note Removing a settings group removes all settings contained within that group.
- OK
- Saves the changes and exits the dialog box.
- Cancel
- Exits the dialog box without saving any changes.
- Apply
- Saves the changes and remains in the dialog box.
- Help
- Opens the help topic for this tab of the dialog box.
