Use the Collection Membership Rules page in the Configuration Manager 2007 Distribute Software Wizard to define rules that you can use to evaluate membership in the new collection and set the collection update schedule.

Membership rules

Specifies the membership rules that are defined for the new collection.

The following options are available for creating and managing these membership rules:

  • Computer icon: Click to start the Create Direct Membership Rule Wizard, which enables you to select one or more resources to include in this collection.

  • Query icon: Click to open the Query Rule Properties dialog box, which enables you to define a new query-based membership rule.

  • Properties icon: Select a defined membership rule, and click to modify the rule.

  • Delete icon: Select a defined membership rule, and click to delete the rule.

The following columns are displayed for each membership rule:

  • Rule: Specifies the name of the membership rule.

  • Type: Specifies the type of the membership rule, either Direct (for a specific resource), Query (for a query-based rule), or both.

  • Limit To: Indicates whether the rule is limited to a specific collection.

    If the rule is limited, the name of the collection that limits the rule appears. If the rule is not limited, <Unlimited> appears.

How often should ConfigMgr update this collection's membership?

Specifies the schedule that Configuration Manager will use to reassess the membership of the collection to update if changes have been made. The default setting is to update the collection membership every two hours.

To set a custom schedule for updating the collection, click the Schedule button.
