Each Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 collection can have specific settings that apply only to that collection. The collection-specific settings are as follows:
- Collection variables

- Restart settings

- Policy polling intervals

- Maintenance windows

Per-collection task sequence variables are used for operating system deployment. For more information, see How to Create Per-Collection Task Sequence Variables.
Per-collection restart settings and policy polling intervals allow you to set values that override the values set in the Configuration Manager Computer Client Agent properties.
Important
---
If a client is a member of multiple collections with different polling and restart intervals, it will use the shortest configured interval.
Maintenance windows provide administrators with a way to define a period of time that limits when changes can be made on the systems that are members of a collection. For more information, see About Maintenance Windows.
