Use the General tab of the Configuration Manager 2007 ConfigMgr Fallback Status Properties dialog box to verify the client connections allowed and configure throttling for processing state messages from clients.

This tab contains the following elements:

Allowed client connections

Displays which client computers can send messages to this fallback status point. This setting is automatically configured and is displayed for information only. The available options are the following:
  • Allow intranet-only connections

When the site is in mixed mode, this setting is automatically configured to indicate that the fallback status point can receive state messages from clients on the intranet.

This option is also automatically configured when the site is in native mode and the site system that is configured with the fallback status point role is not configured with an Internet fully qualified domain name (FQDN). To specify an Internet FQDN, see How to Configure the Internet FQDN of Site Systems that Support Internet-Based Client Management.

  • Allow both Internet and intranet client connections

This setting is automatically configured when the site is in native mode, and the site system that is configured with the fallback status point role is configured with an Internet fully qualified domain name (FQDN).

Unlike the other site systems that support Internet-based client management, you cannot control client connections from the Internet or intranet with the Allowed client connection setting because the fallback status point uses unauthenticated client connections. Instead, it is the server placement and client configuration of assigning the fallback status point that determines whether clients on the intranet or the Internet can connect to the fallback status point.

For more information, see Determine Server Placement for Internet-Based Client Management and How to Assign the Fallback Status Point to Configuration Manager Client Computers.

Number of messages:

Specify the number of state messages that the fallback status point is permitted to send to the Configuration Manager 2007 site server within the specified throttle interval. The default value is 10000.
Throttle interval (in seconds)

Specify the throttle interval for state message processing. Only the number of state messages specified in Number of messages will be sent to the Configuration Manager 2007 site server during this interval. The default value is 3600 seconds.
