Changing a Primary Site's Parent Site
You can change a primary site's parent site to reconfigure your site hierarchy.
How to change a primary site's parent site
-
Navigate to the site.
-
Right-click the site, and then click Properties.
-
In the Site Properties dialog box, click the General tab, and then click Set Parent Site.
-
In the Set Parent Site dialog box, ensure that Report to parent site is selected and then specify a parent site.
Caution If the site being added to the hierarchy uses the same site code that was previously used in the hierarchy, and if software distribution objects were modified since detachment, software distribution objects might be overwritten or corrupted. For instance, parent and child sites might have different definitions for the same package IDs. Carefully inspect any duplicates. After inspection, consider deleting packages that are no longer valid. -
Click OK to close the Set Parent Site dialog box.
After the child site has been attached, data starts to flow between the child site and the parent site. If the child site already has several clients, normal MIF file processing at the parent site is delayed while the child site data is added to the parent's site database.

You cannot change a secondary site's parent site without uninstalling the secondary site and reinstalling it as assigned to a different primary site. |
