Specify the intranet fully qualified domain name (FQDN) of site systems if you want to use DNS name resolution for computers. This is recommended for native mode site configuration, and if you are publishing the default management point to DNS.

Note
If the site is operating in native mode, most server certificates will use a FQDN as the subject name. If the certificate is using an intranet FQDN as the subject name, enter the same intranet FQDN in Configuration Manager. However, if the certificate is using a NetBIOS name for intranet communication, do not enter an intranet FQDN for site systems in Configuration Manager.

To configure the intranet FQDN of site systems:

  1. In the Configuration Manager console navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Site Management / <site code> - <site name> / Site Settings / Site Systems.

  2. Select the first server displayed.

  3. Right-click ConfigMgr site system, and then select Properties.

  4. On the General tab, click Specify a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) for this site system on the intranet.

  5. In the Intranet FQDN text box, enter the intranet FQDN that is registered in the intranet DNS for the server.

  6. Click OK.

  7. Repeat steps 3 to 6 for any remaining servers that require configuration of intranet FQDNs.
