When Configuration Manager 2007 sites are operating in mixed mode, self-signed certificates are used to secure client-to-server communications and client-to-server data encryption is optional.
Supported Site Hierarchy Configurations for Mixed Mode
The supported parent-child configurations for Configuration Manager 2007 sites operating in mixed mode are as follows:
- A Configuration Manager 2007 site operating
in mixed mode reporting to a Configuration Manager 2007 site
operating in mixed mode.
- A Configuration Manager 2007 site operating
in mixed mode reporting to a Configuration Manager 2007 site
operating in native mode.
- An SMS 2003 site operating in advanced
security reporting to a Configuration Manager 2007 site operating
in mixed mode.
Note If you choose to install a Configuration Manager 2007 site in mixed mode during setup, you can migrate the site to native mode after installation.
