The languages for software updates in Configuration Manager 2007 are configured in the Software Update Point Component Properties dialog box and stored in the site control file. When software updates are synchronized from either the software update point or from any offline catalogs, the language settings are retrieved from the site control file. The summary information (metadata) languages are configured in the properties for only the active software update point at the central site. The active software update point and Internet-based software update point, if configured, synchronize the software updates metadata from the upstream synchronization source for the languages configured for the active software update point at the central site. The update file settings are configured in the properties for the active software update point at each site.

Note
In Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003, the download.ini file stored the configuration settings for the languages that were used. The download.ini file is no longer used when synchronizing software updates.

To configure the languages for software updates

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Site Management / <site code> - <site name> / Site Settings / Component Configuration.

  2. Right-click Software Update Point, and then click Properties.

  3. Click the Languages tab, and then configure the languages that will be synchronized for both Configuration Manager and SMS 2003 client computers.
