Use the General tab of the Configuration Manager 2007 Software Metering Properties dialog box to specify settings for the automatic generation of software metering rules.
This tab contains the following elements:
- Recent Usage Inventory Settings
- Specifies settings for the automatic generation of software metering rules and for the amount of time to retain data generated by these rules.
- Data Retention (in days)
- Specifies the amount of time that data generated by software metering rules will be held in the site database. The default value is 90 days.
- Auto create disabled metering rules from recent usage inventory data
- If selected, this option allows you to specify settings for the
automatic generation of software metering rules from Configuration
Manager 2007 inventory data. The following items can be configured:
- Specify the percentage of computers in a
Configuration Manager 2007 site that must use a particular
executable before a software metering rule for that executable is
automatically created. The default value is 10 percent.
- Specify the number of rules after which no
new software metering rules will be automatically created. The
default value is 100 rules.
Note Software metering rules are created in a disabled state. To enable a software metering rule, right-click the rule and select Enable. - Specify the percentage of computers in a
Configuration Manager 2007 site that must use a particular
executable before a software metering rule for that executable is
automatically created. The default value is 10 percent.
- OK
- Saves the changes, and exits the dialog box.
- Cancel
- Exits the dialog box without saving any changes.
- Apply
- Saves the changes, and remains in the dialog box.
- Help
- Opens the help topic for this tab of the dialog box.
