Use the SMS 2003 Settings page in the Configuration Manager 2007 Deploy Software Updates Wizard to deploy software updates to SMS 2003 clients that are members of the target collection. This page does not display in the wizard if any of the specified software updates are not deployable to SMS 2003 clients. Software updates from the Microsoft Update catalog and synchronized using Inventory Tool for Microsoft Updates catalog can be deployed to SMS 2003 clients.

Note |
---|
It is highly recommended that you enable Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) on distribution points that are used for software updates when downloading the updates from the distribution point and then installing them. If BITS is enabled on the distribution point, disconnection from the network during the software updates download does not cause the deployment to fail because BITS resumes the download, starting where it was interrupted, the next time the client has network access. If BITS is not enabled on the distribution point and a network problem occurs during the software updates download, the software updates installation fails. |
