Within Configuration Manager 2007, packages provide one of the foundations of distributing software to clients. Although the specific software being delivered is contained in the programs within a package, the package itself provides a wrapper that dictates where source files are stored on the site server and distribution points, on what schedule the package will be updated on the distribution points, and other settings related to the overall package.
The following flowchart provides a high level visual workflow for the steps for creating a package, and the links at the end of this document provide detailed information about the process.
