Fallback Status Point
The fallback status point is an optional but recommended site system role that helps you manage clients and identify any client-related problems. For example, if the site is in native mode and certificate issues are preventing communication, the fallback status point accepts unauthenticated communication so it can accept messages from clients to help you identify and remedy the problem.
Deploy the fallback status point before you deploy your clients so that you can assign the fallback status point to the clients as soon as they are installed.
The computer hosting the fallback status point role must have Internet Information Services (IIS) installed.

Reporting Point
A reporting point is an optional but recommended site server role that hosts files used by Configuration Manager 2007 so that you can see information in reports about the clients you are managing.
