Use the General tab of the Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Active Directory System Discovery Properties dialog box to enable Active Directory System Discovery and specify which Active Directory containers to search during that discovery.

The General tab contains the following elements:

Enable Active Directory System Discovery

Enables the Active Directory System Discovery method for this site.
Active Directory containers

Specifies the containers that are processed by this discovery method, and the scope of that discovery.The following options are available for managing the Active Directory containers associated with this method:
  • New icon: Opens the New Active Directory Container dialog box to add an Active Directory container to the discovery polling list.

  • Property icon: Opens the New Active Directory Container dialog box to view or modify an Active Directory container in the discovery polling list.

  • Delete icon: Removes the selected container from the discovery polling list.

The following columns are displayed for each Active Directory container in the discovery polling list:
  • Distinguished Name: Specifies the LDAP distinguished name of the Active Directory container.

  • Recursive: Specifies whether or not the discovery method searches child containers of this specific Active Directory container.

  • Group: Specifies whether or not the discovery method includes or excludes objects within groups within its search of this specific Active Directory container.

OK

Saves any changes and exits the dialog box.
Cancel

Exits the dialog box without saving any changes.
Apply

Saves any changes and remains in the dialog box.
Help

Opens the help topic for this tab of the dialog box.
