The License Import Wizard is used to import Microsoft and non-Microsoft licensing information into the Asset Intelligence catalog.

Note
The information in this topic applies only to Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 and later.

Use the following procedure to import software license information into the Asset Intelligence catalog.

Important
When importing non-Microsoft software license information, administrators must create a valid .XML formatted license import file. For more information about creating a license import file, see Importing Software Licenses Into the Asset Intelligence Catalog.

To import software license information into the Asset Intelligence catalog

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database (<site code> - <site name>) / Computer Management / Asset Intelligence.

  2. Right-click Asset Intelligence, and click License Import Wizard to start the License Import Wizard.

    Note
If the Configuration Manager console action pane is displayed, the License Import Wizard can also be started by clicking License Import Wizard in the action pane.
  3. On the Welcome page of the License Import Wizard, click Next.

  4. On the Import page of the License Import Wizard, click Browse to specify the location of a valid XML-formatted licensing information file stored on a standard network shared folder.

    Note
The shared folder should be properly secured to prevent unauthorized access to the licensing information file and the computer account of the computer the wizard is being run on must have full control permissions to the share containing the license import file.
  5. On the Summary page of the License Import Wizard Wizard, review the information you have specified, to ensure that it is correct before continuing. If changes need to be made, click Previous to return to the Import page.
