Use the procedures in these sample configuration items for Configuration Manager 2007 desired configuration management to help you create simple but useful configuration items for everyday maintenance tasks.
Once created, you can add them to configuration baselines, or use them as building blocks for more complex configuration items. For more information, see Tasks for Desired Configuration Management.

To complete the procedures, the following requirements must be met:
- You are running a functioning Configuration
Manager 2007 site with a default management point.
- You are logged in with a Windows user account
that is a member of the SMS Admins local group on the site server,
and this user account has sufficient class security rights to
create and modify configuration items. An example of a Windows user
account with sufficient rights is the account that was used to
install the Configuration Manager 2007 site.
- The desired configuration management client
agent is enabled on the Configuration Manager 2007 site. For more
information, see How to Enable or Disable
the Desired Configuration Management Client Agent.
