Software update deployments in Configuration Manager 2007 can be added in the properties for the specific deployment or by dragging the selected software updates to a deployment.

Note
Only downloaded updates appear in the Add Software Update dialog box. To add software updates that have not been previously downloaded, either drag-and-drop the updates from the Configuration Manager console to a deployment or exit the deployment properties, follow the steps in How to Download Software Updates, and then open the Add Software Update dialog box again.

When new software updates are added to a deployment, the deployment properties are updated on the site server and clients will receive the updated deployment on their next machine policy cycle and the updates will be available for installation any time after the configured start time. The following procedures provide the steps necessary to add software updates to a deployment.

To add software updates from the deployment properties

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Software Updates / Deployment Management.

  2. In the results pane, right-click the desired deployment, and click Properties.

  3. Click the Software Updates tab. Click Add to open the Add Software Update dialog box.

  4. Browse for and select the software updates to add to the deployment, and then click OK.

To add software updates using the Deploy Software Updates Wizard

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Software Updates.
