Configuration baselines in Configuration Manager 2007 contain predefined configuration items and configuration baseline rules around those configuration items. After a configuration baseline is created, you can assign it to a collection so that computers in that collection will download the configuration baseline and assess their compliance with it.

To create a new configuration baseline:

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Desired Configuration Management.

  2. Right-click Configuration Baselines, click New Configuration Baseline to load the Create Configuration Baseline Wizard, and then follow the wizard instructions.

    Note
For more information about the options in the wizard, see Create Configuration Baseline Wizard.
