You can specify the Domain Name Servers (DNS) that the Configuration Manager 2007 client computer will query to resolve DNS domain names on the DNS tab. The DNS servers will be queried in the order that they are listed. The local setting will only be used if the associated Group Policy is disabled or unspecified.

You can configure the following settings:

Setting Description

Obtain DNS servers automatically

Select this option to configure the Configuration Manager 2007 client to obtain DNS server information automatically from a DHCP server.

Use the following DNS servers

Select this option to manually configure the DNS servers that the Configuration Manager 2007 client computer will use. The Configuration Manager Client will query the DNS servers in the order they are specified.

To add a new DNS server, click the New button and enter the IP address.

DNS Suffix

Specify the DNS suffix that should be used by the Configuration Manager 2007 client computer's connection.

Register this connection's addresses in DNS

Select this option to specify if the computer should register the connection IP addresses in DNS.

Use this connections DNS suffix in DNS registration

Select this option if the connection's DNS suffix should be registered in DNS.
