You can use a number of methods to verify that your Configuration Manager 2007 clients have successfully assigned to a site. These methods include the following:

The client assignment reports display information sent from the Configuration Manager 2007 site fallback status point. If client computers are not assigned to a fallback status point, these reports will not display data for these clients. For information about assigning a fallback status point, see How to Assign the Fallback Status Point to Configuration Manager Client Computers.

To view the client assignment reports:

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Reporting / Reports.

  2. Right-click the report you want to display, and then select Run from the menu. The following reports are available with the report category of Site - Client Information:

    • Client Assignment Success Details

    • Client Assignment Failure Details

    • Client Assignment Status Details

    • Client Assignment Detailed Status Report

To view the assignment status of the client in the Configuration Manager console:

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Collections / All Systems.

  2. In the All Systems collection, examine the entries for Site Code and Assigned for the client computer that you want to verify. If the client has been successfully assigned, the Assigned column will display Yes and the Site Code column will display the name of the site to which the client computer has been assigned.

To view the client's assigned site in Configuration Manager on the client computer:

  1. Navigate to Configuration Manager in the Control Panel of the client computer, and then double-click to open its properties.

  2. Click the Advanced tab.

  3. Verify that the site code displayed in the Currently assigned to site code: field is correct, and then click OK.

To examine the client log files:

  1. On the client computer, open the file ClientLocation.log in the folder %windir%\system32\CCM\Logs.

  2. Review the log file to verify that the assigned site is correct.
