Use the following procedure to create custom Asset Intelligence catalog software families.

To create a custom software family

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database (<site code> - <site name>) / Computer Management / Asset Intelligence / Customize Catalog / Software Families.

  2. Right-click Software Families, and click New Family to start the New Software Family Wizard.

    Note
If the Configuration Manager console action pane is displayed, the New Software Category Wizard can also be started by clicking New Family in the action pane.
  3. On the General page of the New Software Family Wizard, specify a name for the new software family, and optionally, a description.

    Note
The validation state for all new custom software families is always user-defined.
  4. On the Summary page of the New Software Family Wizard, review the new software family information you have specified to ensure that it is correct before continuing. If changes need to be made, click Previous to return to the General page.
