Using the Software Families node located under the Customize Catalog Configuration Manager console node, administrators can modify custom software families used to group software title information stored in the Asset Intelligence Knowledge Base.

The information in this topic applies only to Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 and later.

Use the following procedure to modify custom Asset Intelligence Catalog software families.

To modify a custom software family

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database (<site code> - <site name>) / Computer Management / Asset Intelligence / Customize Catalog / Software Families.

  2. Right-click the custom software family name, and click Properties.

    Note
    If the Configuration Manager console action pane is displayed, the custom software family can also be modified by clicking the custom software family name and then clicking Properties in the action pane.
  3. Modify the software family name or description as necessary, and click OK.

    Note
    The validation state for all new custom software families is always user-defined.
