You can verify the successful installation of a proxy management point at a secondary site by reviewing the MPSetup.log file at the secondary site server computer, or by reviewing the status messages generated by the installation from the Configuration Manager console installed on the secondary site server's primary site server parent.
To verify successful proxy management point installation by reviewing the MPSetup.log file
-
On the secondary site server computer, navigate to the <Configuration Manager program files directory>\Logs directory.
-
Open the MPSetup.log file, and review its contents to determine if the proxy management point installation was successful. For a successful proxy management point installation, you should see the following lines in the MPSetup.log file:
- mp.msi exited with return code 0
- Installation was successful.
- mp.msi exited with return code 0
To verify successful proxy management point installation by reviewing status messages in the Configuration Manager console
-
In the Configuration Manager console of the secondary site's parent primary site server, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / System Status / Site Status / <secondary site code - <site name> / Component Status.
-
In the results pane, right-click the SMS_MP_CONTROL_MANAGER component, click Show Messages, and then click All.
-
If Configuration Manager 2007 was able to install the management point site system role on the site system, a status message with the ID: 1015 for MP_CONTROL_MANAGER will be generated and displayed in the Status Message Viewer.
-
If Configuration Manager 2007 was unable to install the management point site system role on the site system, a status message with the ID: 1016 for MP_CONTROL_MANAGER or SMS_EXECUTIVE will be generated and displayed in the Status Message Viewer. In this case, further status messages might also be generated detailing the specific reason why the proxy management point site system role could not be installed on the site system.
