Using the Hardware Requirements node of the Configuration Manager console, administrators can create custom hardware requirements for software title information stored in the Asset Intelligence catalog.

Note
The information in this topic applies only to Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 and later.

Creating custom hardware requirements can be done for software titles without previous hardware requirements information stored in the Asset Intelligence catalog, or to customize the requirements of an application that has hardware requirements already defined.

Important
Existing, non-custom hardware requirements information stored in the Asset Intelligence catalog is read only and cannot be modified. To customize the hardware requirements for an application that has hardware requirements already defined by System Center Online, you must create custom hardware requirements for the software title.

Use the following procedure to create custom Asset Intelligence catalog hardware requirements.

To create a custom hardware requirement

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database (<site code> - <site name>) / Computer Management / Asset Intelligence / Hardware Requirements.

  2. Right-click Hardware Requirements, and click New Hardware Requirements to start the New Hardware Requirement Wizard.

    Note
If the Configuration Manager console action pane is displayed, the New Software Category Wizard can also be started by clicking New Hardware Requirements in the action pane.
  3. On the General page of the New Hardware Requirements Wizard, specify the following:

    1. The software title name that the new hardware requirements will be associated with.

      Note
The validation state for all custom hardware requirements is always user-defined.
    2. The minimum processor speed, in MHz, that the software title requires.

    3. The minimum RAM, in KB, that the software title requires.

    4. The minimum free disk space, in KB, that the software title requires.

    5. The minimum hard disk size, in KB, that the software title requires.

  4. On the Summary page of the New Hardware Requirements Wizard, review the new hardware requirements information you have specified to ensure it is correct before continuing. If changes need to be made, click Previous to return to the General page.
