Enabling the software metering client agent makes it possible for Configuration Manager 2007 clients that are assigned to this site to collect usage data specified by software metering rules. This client agent is not enabled by default.

Disabling the software metering client agent prevents Configuration Manager 2007 clients that are assigned to this site from collecting usage data specified by software metering rules.

This setting to enable or disable the software metering client agent is downloaded to client computers according to the Policy Polling Interval in the Computer Client Agent Properties dialog box (by default, every 60 minutes).

To enable or disable the software metering client agent:

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Site Management / <site code> – <site name> / Site Settings / Client Agents.

  2. Right-click Software Metering Client Agent and then click Properties.

  3. On the General tab, enable or disable the option Enable software metering on clients.

  4. Click OK.
