How you install an out of band service point in Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 and later depends on whether you are installing it onto a new site system server or whether you are adding the out of band service point to an existing site system server.

Note
The information in this topic applies only to Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 and later.

You cannot install an out of band service point on a server share or on a secondary site, and you can install a single out of band service point only in a primary site for Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 or later. If the option to install the out of band service point is not available in the wizard, check for these conditions.

To install an out of band service point on a new site system server

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Site Management / <site code> – <site name> / Site Settings.

  2. Right-click Site Systems, click New, and then click Server to launch the New Site System Server Wizard.

  3. On the General page, specify the server name. If you cannot use the site server computer account for installation, specify an installation account, and then click Next.

  4. On the System Role Selection page, select Out of band service point, and click Next.

  5. On the Out of Band Service Point page, change any default settings you require for how out of band transmission packets are sent.

    Note
For more information about each of these options, see ConfigMgr Out of Band Service Point Properties: General Tab.
  6. Click Next, click Next, and then click Close.
