Before following the procedure in this topic, ensure that you have upgraded the primary site that the secondary site reports to. Also, ensure that the secondary site to be upgraded has run, and passed with no errors, the Configuration Manager Setup prerequisite checks within the past seven days.

To upgrade a secondary site from within the Configuration Manager console, you must use the Upgrade Secondary Site Wizard. To start the Upgrade Secondary Site Wizard, use the following procedure.

You must have Modify permissions for the Site security object class or instance to perform this procedure.

To start the Upgrade Secondary Site Wizard

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Site Management / <site code> - <site name> for the parent primary site for the secondary site to be upgraded.

  2. Right-click <site code> - <site name> and click Upgrade Secondary Site to launch the Upgrade Secondary Site Wizard.
