Power Viewer is a tool included with Configuration Manager 2007 R3 that enables you to view power management-related information on Configuration Manager 2007 client computers. Power Viewer must be run directly from a Configuration Manager 2007 client computer and can help you troubleshoot problems with the power management feature. Power Viewer can also be used to connect to remote Configuration Manager 2007 R3 client computers.

The main Power Viewer window has three tabs which display the following information:

Prerequisites for Power Viewer
Power Viewer has both external dependencies and dependencies within the product.

How to Install and Run Power Viewer
The Power Viewer program, PowerVwr.exe can be found in the Tools folder of the Configuration Manager 2007 R3 installation media. To use Power Viewer, copy the file PowerVwr.exe to a folder on a computer, and then double-click the file to run it.
Use the following procedure to display power management information for a remote computer.
To connect to a remote computer using Power Viewer
- In the Power Viewer window, click File, and then
click Connect.
- In the Connect dialog box, type in the following
information:
- Computer – Specify the NetBIOS name of
the remote computer.
- Username – Specify the user name to
use to connect to the remote computer.
Note If you are connecting to a computer in a different domain to the computer running Power Viewer, you must also specify the domain of the remote computer using the format <Domain>\<Username>. - Password – Specify the password
associated with this user name.
Important You must have administrator rights to use Power Viewer locally or to connect to a remote computer. - Computer – Specify the NetBIOS name of
the remote computer.
- Click OK. The Power Viewer window shows power
management information for the remote computer.
