Use the General tab of the Configuration Manager 2007 Status Reporting Properties dialog box to specify status reporting settings for server and client components.

Caution
The default reporting settings are appropriate for most environments and should be changed with caution. Increasing the level of status reporting by choosing to report all status details can increase the load on the Configuration Manager 2007 site. Decreasing the level of status reporting can limit the usefulness of the status summarizers.
Server component status reporting

Controls which status messages, generated by server components, are reported and which messages are ignored.
Report

Specifies the type and severity of status messages to report from the drop-down list. The following options are available:
  • All Milestones and All Details

  • All Milestones

  • Error and Warning Milestones

  • Error Milestones

The default setting is All Milestones.
Report details on failure

Reports detailed status messages when an error occurs between milestones. This option is enabled only if Report is selected. If All Milestones and All Details is selected, this option is disabled because details are already being reported.
Log

Writes the specified type and severity of status message to the Windows event log. The options in the drop-down list are the same as for Report.
Log details on failure

Writes a status message to the Windows event log when an error occurs between milestones. This option is enabled only if Log is selected. If All Milestones and All Details is selected, this option is disabled because details are already being reported.
Client component status reporting
