Network Discovery in Configuration Manager 2007 can be set to search a specific subnet or set of subnets during a discovery run. By default, it is set to search local subnets; however, this option can be changed, and additional subnets can be added, deleted, enabled, or disabled on an ad hoc basis. If one or more subnets are displayed on the Subnets tab of the Network Discovery Properties dialog box, only subnets that are marked as Enabled will be searched by the discovery method the next time a scheduled run is started.

Specifically disabling a subnet search during Network Discovery will not preclude a search of that subnet for resources if those resources are included in another configured aspect of the Network Discovery run. It will disable only a specific search of that subnet.

Note
You must have Modify permission for the Site Security object class to configure this discovery method. For more information about security permissions, see Classes and Instances for Object Security in Configuration Manager.
