The System Restart Required dialog box in Configuration Manager 2007 indicates that a software update or software distribution installation has finished on a client computer, but a mandatory system restart is necessary for it to complete. The countdown value indicates the amount of time before the mandatory system restart will be initiated. The computer can be manually restarted at any time prior to the enforced system restart.

This dialog box contains the following elements:

Restart Now

Initiates a system restart on the computer. Be sure to save your work prior to the system restart.

Close

Closes the System Restart Required dialog box. The restart countdown will continue. The dialog box will display again prior to the mandatory system restart to remind you of the pending restart and allow you time to save your work. After closing the dialog box, you can view it at any time by clicking the Restart Manager icon in the notification area.
