Configuration Manager 2007 site hierarchies are made up of sites joined together in parent-child relationships. To disconnect sites, you must remove the site's parent site information and change the child site to a central site. Once the following procedure has been followed to disconnect the site, ensure that the addresses between sites (parent to child on the parent site and child to parent on the child site) have been deleted.

| When a parent primary site is removed from a hierarchy, any objects previously replicated from that site to a child site will remain at the child site after the parent-child relationship is broken. This is because there might be advertisements based on the replicated collections or software distribution packages that were replicated down the hierarchy. Once the parent site has been removed, the replicated objects will no longer be locked at the child site and can be modified or deleted as needed. |
To remove a primary site from a hierarchy

In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Site Management / <site code> - <site name>.

Right-click <site code> - <site name> and click Properties.

On the General tab, click Set Parent Site.

Select the Central Site option.
