Configuring a custom Web site is a site-wide operation. If you choose to use a custom Web site, it is recommended that you implement custom Web sites at every primary and secondary site in the hierarchy. You should also switch the ports used by clients to communicate with the site systems in parallel with configuring the site to use a custom Web site.

Important
Before enabling the use of a custom Web site for client communication in the Configuration Manager console, you must manually create a custom Web site named SMSWEB on all site systems that require Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) in the site. For information about which site systems require IIS, see Configuration Manager Supported Configurations.

To configure a Configuration Manager site to use a custom Web site

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Site Management / <site code> – <site name>.

  2. Right-click <site server> - <site name> and click Properties.

  3. On the Ports tab, select the Use custom web site check box.
