The Operating System Images node displays a list of the Operating System Deployment image packages that have been created, the actions that can be run, and, when an operating system image package is selected from the Operating System Images results pane, specific actions that can be run for that operating system image package.

The Operating System Deployment image packages that have been created are displayed in a list in the Operating System Images results pane. The Name column is used as the default sort order. The following columns are displayed by default:

You can filter the operating system image packages that are displayed in the Operating System Images pane using the four filter actions located above the list.

Look For

Enter all or part of an operating system image package name, or use the drop-down list to select from existing filter criteria.
Search In

Select the column to use when applying the filter criteria.
Find Now

Click Find Now to run the filter.
Clear

Click Clear to remove the filter and display the entire list.

There are three tabs on the lower half of the Operating System Images results pane: General, Images, and Disk Configuration.

The General tab displays the following properties of the WIM file that are stored in the Configuration Manager 2007 database:

The Images tab displays the following properties of the WIM file referenced by the operating system image you selected. These properties are stored in the WIM file and are available to external tools that access the WIM file directly.

The Disk Configuration tab displays the following disk partition information included with the operating system image:

You can select the following default actions grouped under Operating System Images in the Actions pane. You can collapse the default actions by clicking the up arrow in the Operating System Images section header.

Add Operating System Image Package

Select this action to run the Add Operating System Image Package Wizard. This wizard lets you select and add an operating system image as an Configuration Manager 2007 package.
Copy Packages

Select this action to launch the Copy Packages wizard. Use this wizard to copy packages from one distribution point to another.
New Folder

Select this option to create a new folder. Folders can be used to organize operating system images.
New Search Folder

Select this option to search folders. In the Search Folder Criteria dialog box, specify the properties that should be used to perform the search.
View

Select this action to add or remove columns in the Operating System Images results pane, to export the list of operating system image packages to a tab-delimited or comma-delimited text or unicode text file, and to hide the search bar in the Operating System Images results pane.
New Window from Here

Select this action to display a new Configuration Manager 2007 Administrator Console window rooted at the selected node in the console tree.
Refresh

Select this action to refresh the Configuration Manager 2007 Administrator Console display.
Properties

Select this item to display general properties for the Operating System Images node, and to set class security on that node.
Help

Select this action to display Configuration Manager 2007 product help for this node.

When you select a specific operating system image in the Operating System Images results pane, or expand the Operating System Images node and select an operating system image from the console tree, you can run the following actions grouped under the Operating System Image Package section in the Actions pane. You can collapse the default actions by clicking the up arrow in that section header.

Manage Distribution Points

Select this action to run the Manage Distribution Points Wizard. This wizard is used to distribute the boot image to one or more distribution points, from which it can be used by target computers.
Update Distribution Points

Select this action to update the package information on distribution points. This wizard is used to update distribution points with a new version of a boot image after changes have been made to that boot image.
Cut

Select this action to cut the selected operating system image to paste in another Operating System Images folder in this tree.
Delete

Select this action to delete the operating system image package. When you delete an operating system image package, you will be prompted to confirm the deletion.
Refresh

Select this action to refresh the Configuration Manager 2007 Administrator Console display.
Properties

Select this item to display detailed properties for the selected operating system image package.
Help

Select this action to display Configuration Manager 2007 product help for this node.
