You can create configuration categories in Configuration Manager 2007 with two methods:

To create configuration categories in the wizards

  1. In the Identification page of the wizard, click Categories to display the Categories dialog box.

  2. To create a new category, type in the name under Add a new category and then click Add. If you need multiple categories, type in the first name and then press Enter, followed by the next category name, and so on until you entered all the categories you require, and then click Add.

  3. The newly created categories will appear under Available categories, and they will be automatically selected for the configuration baseline or configuration item you are creating. If you do not want the configuration baseline or configuration item you are creating to belong to all the newly created categories, deselect them from the list.

  4. Click OK.
