Network Discovery in Configuration Manager 2007 can be set to search a specific domain or set of domains during a discovery run. By default, it is set to search the local domain; however, this option can be changed, and additional domains can be added, deleted, enabled, or disabled on an ad hoc basis. If one or more domains are displayed on the Domains tab of the Network Discovery Properties dialog box, only domains that are marked as Enabled will be searched by the discovery method the next time a scheduled run is started.

Specifically disabling a domain search during Network Discovery will not preclude a search of that domain for resources if those resources are included in another configured aspect of the Network Discovery run. It will only disable a specific search of that domain.

Note
You must have Modify permission for the Site Security object class to configure this discovery method. For more information about security permissions, see Classes and Instances for Object Security in Configuration Manager.
