You can enable and disable Windows device drivers that have been imported into the driver catalog. You can temporarily disable a device driver so that Configuration Manager 2007 client computers and the task sequence environment will not be able to install a specific device driver as part of an operating system deployment.

Use the following procedures to disable and enable a Windows device driver.

Procedures

To disable a device driver

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Operating System Deployment / Drivers.

  2. To disable the device driver, locate the device driver in the Drivers pane, right-click the device driver, and then click Disable.

  3. In the Update Driver Status dialog box, confirm the device driver that will be disabled, and then click Yes to disable the device driver and close the dialog box.

To enable a device driver

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database / Computer Management / Operating System Deployment / Drivers.

  2. To enable the device driver, locate the device driver in the Drivers pane, right-click the device driver, and then click Enable.

  3. In the Update Driver Status dialog box, confirm the device driver that will be enabled, and then click Yes to enable the device driver and close the dialog box.
