Using the Software Categories node located under the Customize Catalog Configuration Manager console node, administrators can modify custom software categories used to group software title information stored in the Asset Intelligence catalog.

The information in this topic applies only to Configuration Manager 2007 SP1 and later.

Use the following procedure to modify custom Asset Intelligence catalog software categories.

To modify a custom software category

  1. In the Configuration Manager console, navigate to System Center Configuration Manager / Site Database (<site code> - <site name>) / Computer Management / Asset Intelligence / Customize Catalog / Software Categories.

  2. Right-click the custom software category name, and click Properties.

    Note
    If the Configuration Manager console action pane is displayed, the custom software category can also be modified by clicking the custom software category name and then clicking Properties in the action pane.

  3. Modify the software category name or description as necessary, and click OK.

    Note
    The validation state for all new custom software categories is always user-defined.
