Client status reporting is not automatically installed when you install Configuration Manager 2007 R2. Client status reporting can be installed on any Windows server or workstation that meets the necessary prerequisites. This computer is designated as the client status reporting host system. For information about choosing a computer to act as the client status reporting host system, see Planning for Client Status Reporting.

The information in this topic applies only to Configuration Manager 2007 R2 and Configuration Manager 2007 R3.

Use the following procedure to install client status reporting on a designated client status reporting host system.

Important
After completing setup for client status reporting, refer to the documentation installed with the feature for details on how to configure client status reporting for your site.

To install client status reporting

  1. Before installing client status reporting, ensure that you have read the topics Prerequisites for Client Status Reporting and Planning for Client Status Reporting.

  2. On the designated client status reporting host system, access the Configuration Manager 2007 R2 installation media, open the folder Client Status Reporting, and run the install program ClientStatusReporting.msi.

  3. Click Next on the Welcome page.

  4. Accept the license agreement on the License agreement page, and then click Next.

  5. On the Destination Folder page, either use the default destination folder or click Browse to specify a new destination folder. Click Next to continue.

  6. Click Next on the Installation page.

  7. After installation is complete, click Finish to exit.

  8. To configure client status reporting, from the Windows start menu, navigate to Microsoft Configuration Manager 2007 R2 Client Status Reporting and then click Configure Client Status Reporting.
