Client Access License (CAL) reports can be used to verify compliance and analyze current licensing needs. Summary reports provide a count of users or devices over all servers of a given type for the last 90 days and can be compared to the CAL section of a Microsoft License Statement to verify compliance. Detail reports provide information about specific users or devices and can be used to analyze CAL usage to determine whether device CALs or user CALs would be more effective for your needs.
Note |
---|
CAL inventory information is collected only from Windows Servers that have the Configuration Manager 2007 client installed. Servers that do not have the Configuration Manager 2007 client installed do not report to the site server. |
Inventoried CAL usage for Microsoft Exchange Server is calculated based on authentication to Windows Server on servers that are running Exchange Server. Asset Intelligence CAL reports count all connections to that server as Exchange Server CALs. Therefore, if an Exchange Server is used for other server functions, the reported CAL usage for Exchange Server will be inaccurate.
Important |
---|
In large enterprise environments, CAL reports can take several minutes to generate. Due to data volume and database architecture, CAL reports might take several minutes to run. |

License 11A - Historical Client Access License Utilization
This report provides historical data for CAL usage summaries. The report presents a series of data points showing how many user CALs and device CALs were logged in the 90 days preceding each data point. Data points are created at a specific interval, as set in the Summarize Client Access License Weekly Usage Data task. For more information, see Summarize Client Access License Weekly Usage Data Task Overview. This report contains the following columns.
- Date
- The date the data point was created.
- Product
